On the afternoon of Wednesday, two March I was admitted to A and E With chest pains, having never had any heart issues, to find that I had had heart attacks and needed immediate surgery. The hospital was overflowing, there were literally no beds, and we were right in the middle of the flooding, with helicopters coming in all bringing new patients to an already overflowing system. So in the midst of all this, the quality of care that I experienced was amazing. All the way from admission, into the resuscitation room, overnight care, into the cardiology for a couple of stents, there was no time ever a feeling that I was just another statistic, there was simply a wonderful level of professionalism, and care. I can’t remember everyone’s names, there was Josh and Ryan… Senior nurses on my floor, Elizabeth or Liz the theatre nurse, Dr Daniel Elder, all who in the midst of it all were just great.
