Wahab Riaz is a Pakistani cricket administrator and former cricketer who is the chief selector of Pakistan national cricket team from 17 November 2023. He also served as an advisor to the chief minister of Punjab for sports and youth affairs, in the caretaker government headed by Mohsin Raza Naqvi. He was popular for his pace, wicket-taking, and all-round performance. In 2010, Riaz became the ninth Pakistani bowler to take five wickets on his Test debut against England at The Oval. His victims included Andrew Strauss, Jonathan Trott, and Kevin Pietersen. In 2017, Riaz became the leading wicket-taker in the PSL with 30 wickets in 19 matches. In 2022, he became the first player to take 100 wickets in the PSL for Peshawar. In the World Cup semi-final against India, Riaz took 5 wickets for 46, which included wickets of Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, and MS Dhoni. Riaz has also played in the Afghanistan Premier League, the Global T20 Canada tournament, the Mzansi Super League tournament, and the Bangladesh Premier League.
