Rajen Gohain is an active politician from Assam. He belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party. He represents Nowgong constituency of Assam in Lok Sabha. Profession wise he is the owner of a Te Estate in Assam. After completing his graduation from University of Guwahati with the degrees of BA and LLB he joined Assam Movement in early 1980s and actively participated. Later, he joined politics with BJP. He is a founder-member of Assam BJP in Nagaon district. Before elected to lok Sabha, he was elected as the member of Nagaon Municipal Board in early 90s. Gohain has served four terms as a Member of lower house till 20018. He is currently serving as the Minister of State in the Railway Ministry. He is also associated with Tea plantation, Rubber, Pisciculture and Dairy farming. In 16th Lok Sabha he raised the issue of land-erosion caused by Brahmaputra in Assam and homeless and landless people in the State. He also demanded the construction of rail-cum-road bridge on river Brahmaputra to provide rail connectivity in middle Assam.
