Penelope Heyns OIS is a South African former swimmer, who is best known for being the only woman in the history of the Olympic Games to have won both the 100 m and 200 m breaststroke events. Heyns received numerous honors for her achievements in swimming. In 2003 she was given the Order of Ikhamanga, an important South African award. She was inducted into the South African Sport and Arts Hall of Fame in 2006. In 2007 she was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. Penny Heyns is considered one of the greatest female breaststroke swimmers of all time. Heyns broke 14 world records, including holding the record in the 50 m, 100 m, and 200 m breaststroke. She also broke four individual world records in one event twice, and 11 new world records in three months. Heyns retired from competitive swimming in 2000 and now works as the Managing Director and sole business partner of Omni Share Holdings (Pty) Ltd.
