The Harish-Chandra Research Institute (HRI) is an independent Research Institute situated on Chhatnag Road, Jhusi, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. The Institute began its activities in the year 1965 with the name of Mehta Research Institute. In October, 2001, it was changed its name into the Harish-Chandra Research Institute which was given in the honour of the mathematician Harish-Chandra. It is financed by Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. The Institute is affiliated to Homi Bhabha National Institute which is a Deemed University based in India. Jayanta Kumar Bhattacharjee is the director of the Institute. The Campus of Harish-Chandra Research Institute is spread in an area of around 66 acres.
